Location was the only decent part of this hotel. Run by foreigners who only care about an American pay check. For 500$ a night in the summer you have to do better. It’s a joke. The floors were disgusting leaving our feet black everyday. God knows the last time they actually cleaned the floors thoroughly. Loose hairs all over the bed sheets and bathroom not sure if they were the maids or the previous guest but the quality of cleaning was horrible. I know it’s on the beach and an open air hotel but you think they would have a better way of keeping the bugs out or at least killing the ones in your room before you
Get there. The AC unit sounds like a small airplane in your room all night and barely helps if it is humid outside. Oh and if you’re looking for a hotel with guaranteed parking this is NOT it. There idea of a parking garage for ALL their guests is a joke (the design is actually laughable). Don’t offer parking if you don’t have enough parking for all the
Guests. I know it’s an old hotel but my god just sell it or close it down and start new.

Location cannot be beat - this is the primary reason for staying. That said, we got the superior room (ocean facing king) and it was fantastic. Roomy, great mattress, awesome views, and a well working, quiet AC. Note that it appeared some of the other, lower priced, rooms were not of the same quality, so consider that when booking.
The lead desk staffer, Victoria (lovely Bulgarian woman, hopefully I am remembering the name right!) was superb - super friendly and helpful in all ways. She made the stay a real pleasure, and the other staff, which were not quite as wonderful, could learn from her!!

My wife and I stayed at the Henlopen several times and we never had people smoking weed. this experience prevented us from sitting on the outside balcony. We mentioned to the front desk people however this issue seemed to get worse every evening. we were not offered any discounts or anything, this place seems to be getting lazy with their professionalism.
The front desk people were very rude. they were not helpful at all. The One star is for the view of the beach.
